CHILDHOOD DREAMS
When Kirk Denson was just five years old in 1963, he rode with his family on a 4½-hour bus ride from Amityville, New York, to Washington, D.C., to witness Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. deliver his now-iconic “I Have a Dream” speech.
Kirk reflects on that formative memory and on the enduring power of Dr. King’s commitment to nonviolence—a moral choice made in the face of profound injustice and deep, justified anger, and one that continues to echo in how we confront anger today.
